Vision Loss
The human eye is a complex organ that we depend on every second of our waking hours. This organ is, however, highly susceptible to injury during such events as motor vehicle accidents or construction site, factory, or other work related accidents. Common eye injuries include:
- Blurriness
- Double vision
- Loss of visual acuity
- Total loss of vision
- Retinal detachment
- Injuries due to blunt trauma to the head
- Metal or other foreign objects in the eye
- Chemical exposure to the face or eye
- Loss of one or both eyes
Hearing Loss
Hearing dysfunction can occur when the inner ear and/or the temporal lobes are damaged. Additionally, bleeding in the eat canal, middle ear injury, cochlear damage, and temporal lobe lesions can cause auditory problems. Such damage can occur during motor vehicle accidents, blunt truama to the head, or exposure to execessively loud noises.
Several issues arise when handling these types of claims. It must be determined whose negligence caused the injury. If the injury was sustained at work, the injuried party may need to assert a workers’ compensation claim. However, if another company and/or entity is responsible for the accident, then the worker may be able to make a third party personal injury liability claim, separate and apart from any workers’ compensation claim.
